Sustainability & Climate Awareness

Focus & Rationale
Sustainability refers to the responsible use of natural, social, and economic resources in ways that meet present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. Climate awareness involves understanding the causes and consequences of climate change and recognizing the interconnectedness between environmental and human systems. Together, these concepts form the basis for environmental justice, ecological responsibility, and long-term resilience.

Challenges & Relevance
The climate crisis is one of the most urgent and complex challenges of our time. Its effects –including extreme weather, food insecurity, forced migration, and health risks –disproportionately impact marginalized and vulnerable communities. Environmental degradation also intensifies inequality, conflicts over resources, and public health crises. At the same time, climate justice is deeply linked to social justice: the people least responsible for environmental harm are often the most affected by its consequences. Raising awareness and promoting sustainable practices is not only a matter of ecological survival, but also of equity, solidarity, and intergenerational responsibility.

Our Approach
BRIC integrates sustainability and climate education into its civic and community-based work. We offer workshops and campaigns that connect environmental topics with broader issues of inclusion, democracy, and global responsibility.
We support local eco-initiatives, promote green civic action, and collaborate with youth, educators, and grassroots actors to co-create solutions. Whether planting urban gardens, reducing waste at public events, or exploring climate narratives through art and media, we emphasize participatory and accessible approaches. Our goal is to empower people to understand the climate crisis, take meaningful action in their everyday lives, and advocate for systemic change –
 locally and globally.
