Capacity Building & Innovation
Focus & Rationale
Education, capacity building, and digital innovation are central tools for equipping individuals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate complex realities and take informed action. At the intersection of inclusive education, digital engagement, and capacity development, these elements ensure that learning is accessible, relevant, and transformative.
Non-formal and informal education create learner-centered environments that support both personal growth and civic participation. Education provides essential knowledge and critical awareness; capacity building enhances practical skills, confidence, and leadership; and digital innovation expands access, flexibility, and the ability to participate in an increasingly digital society.
Challenges & Relevance
Many people around the world – especially from marginalized or underserved communities – lack access to quality education and opportunities to build the skills necessary for meaningful civic engagement. Social inequality, digital exclusion, and limited educational infrastructure further widen these gaps. In a rapidly changing world, where misinformation, polarization, and social fragmentation are on the rise, education must go beyond knowledge transfer and empower people to think critically, act responsibly, and engage constructively in society. Accessible, inclusive, and flexible learning formats are essential for democratic resilience, social inclusion, and long-term sustainability.
Our Approach
BRIC develops and implements participatory, inclusive learning formats tailored to the needs of diverse communities. These include civic education programs, interactive workshops, digital courses, and peer-learning initiatives designed to strengthen democratic competencies and active citizenship.
A wide range of training formats – from in-person seminars to online and hybrid models – allows BRIC to reach different audiences and adapt to changing contexts. The thematic scope is broad and evolves in response to societal challenges, with a strong focus on critical thinking, accessibility, and real-world application.
Programs are co-created with learners and grounded in dialogue, ensuring relevance, ownership, and long-term impact. Through this work, BRIC supports the emergence of empowered individuals and communities capable of shaping inclusive, democratic societies.
